Important: Migration Tasmania does not accept unsolicited applications. A suitably senior representative of a Tasmanian Government department, the University of Tasmania, or an associated research organisation must initiate the nomination on your behalf.

Tasmania's NIV nomination is managed by Migration Tasmania. It offers a focused pathway for exceptional individuals with an existing connection to a Tasmanian Government agency or the University of Tasmania.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

Demonstrate exceptional talent through an internationally recognised record of achievement in your field

Have an established relationship with a Tasmanian Government department or authority, the University of Tasmania,

or its associated research institutes

Be referred by a Tasmanian Government department, authority, or the University of Tasmania

Show a genuine commitment to live in and contribute to Tasmania

ELIGIBLE TALENT FIELDS

Global researchers; particularly those connected to the University of Tasmania or Menzies Institute

Entrepreneurs

Innovative investors

Athletes and creatives

INDICATORS OF EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

Top-level international awards (e.g. Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Olympic gold medal)

Significant research funding or advanced academic qualifications

High-profile keynote appearances or global leadership roles

Intellectual property rights or successful commercialisation outcomes

Proven innovation or entrepreneurial activity

Sporting or creative achievements that enhance Australia's international reputation

INDICATORS OF EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

A suitably senior representative from a Tasmanian Government department, University of Tasmania, or relevant research organisation prepares a Business Case on your behalf

The representative submits the Business Case to Migration Tasmania (niv@migration.tas.gov.au)

Migration Tasmania assesses suitability and advises

If eligible, Migration Tasmania completes the Home Affairs Form 1000 and returns it, along with the Business Case to you

You submit your EOI to the Department of Home Affairs with the Tasmanian nomination documents
