858 National Innovation Visa
858

TEMPORARY - PERMANENT

The National Innovation Visa (NIV, Subclass 858) is Australia's permanent residency pathway for exceptionally talented individuals. Introduced on 7 December 2024 as the successor to the Global Talent Visa, it's designed for established and emerging leaders who can drive innovation, job creation, and productivity growth across key sectors of the Australian economy.

The visa covers four main talent areas: global researchers, entrepreneurs, innovative investors, and athletes and creatives. Unlike points-tested visas, the 858 is invitation-only; you first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) or Registration of Interest (ROI), and if selected, receive a formal invitation to apply for the visa.
