Brisbane’s female entrepreneurs now have the chance to apply for a share of $250,000 through the Lord Mayor’s Women in Business Grant program, aimed at boosting the city's economy by supporting women-led businesses. Now in its fourth year, this grant offers up to $5,000 to help female founders invest in training, equipment, and services to grow their businesses. Since 2021, over 150 women-owned businesses in industries like health, education, and the arts have benefited from a total of $750,000 in funding, creating jobs, expanding networks, and driving profits in Brisbane.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner is committed to making Brisbane the most small business-friendly city in Australia:“More than a third of Brisbane’s businesses are led by women, and we want to see that number grow. Our Women in Business Grant program gives them the tools they need to succeed.”
Past recipients have seen great success. For instance, Vas Hatzinik, founder of Frosted Indulgence, used her grant to streamline her boutique cake business, improving marketing and financial systems, while Clare Kennedy from Five Mile Radius expanded her cycling apparel business with new equipment. These grants not only provide financial support but also build a strong community of female entrepreneurs.
Applications for the 2025 grants will open from 16 September to 14 October 2024. In addition to funding, recipients will benefit from a 12-month development program to help them thrive!
