Kim Tyrer, CEO of Galafrey Wines, never envisioned herself leading a winery. A visual artist by trade, she found herself stepping into the wine industry to carry on her father’s legacy after his passing. What began as a family duty soon became a creative outlet for Kim, who discovered that winemaking shares much with her passion for art.
Kim and her mother have kept Galafrey Wines among Australia’s top wineries, renowned for its Riesling and dry-grown vineyard practices. Despite facing challenges as a woman in a male-dominated field, Kim holds her ground, often being the only woman at industry events. "I’m not easily intimidated," she asserts.
Her advice for those looking to start their own business is to "chip and charge"-take small, consistent steps toward your goals, and you'll eventually make significant progress. Kim’s resilience has helped her turn Galafrey into a leading name in Australian wine.
